DeVante Parker’s time with the Miami Dolphins has come to an end. On Saturday afternoon, the former first-round pick was traded to another team in the AFC East.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Dolphins sent Parker to the New England Patriots. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Dolphins are including a 2022 fifth-round pick in the deal so they can receive a 2023 third-round pick in return.
This trade will allow Parker to get a fresh start on a team that needs help at wide receiver. After all, the Patriots have been actively searching for an upgrade at the position.
As for the Dolphins, Parker became expendable once they acquired Tyreek Hill in a blockbuster trade with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sources: The #Dolphins are trading WR DeVante Parker to the #Patriots in exchange for late-round draft pick compensation. Parker lands at a perfect place with stability he’s been wanting, while MIA gains financial flexibility.

Parker didn’t have a great season in 2021, hauling in 40 passes for 515 yards and two touchdowns. However, he has proven in the past that he can be a game-changer.
In 2019, Parker had 72 receptions for 1,202 yards and nine touchdowns. The Patriots would love to add that type of production to their passing game.
Not only will Parker be highly-motivated to play on a new squad, he’ll get to face the Dolphins twice next season.
