Welcome back to 2022! Been a while since I’ve had an article, and I apologize, but hey it’s a new season, let’s get after it!
With a new season, as with a new year, you get excited about things. Or at least I do, and I know you do too because I’ve seen your tweets! Everything is “fresh” and new, and everyone’s record is 0-0. Yes, I’m a Lions fan, and yes, I’m looking forward to this season, but I’m going to open up my 3 things to other teams around the NFL.
The number one thing I’m looking forward to? Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagolvailoa‘s performance this season. Sure, I was a little skeptical of him coming off of an injury and getting drafted so high, I’ve also felt bad for the fans calling for his job since pretty much halfway through his first season.
Granted, I’m not a quarterback guru like my colleague Lisa is, I still feel that sometimes people need a little more time to get comfortable in the NFL, and I feel that Tagolvailoa is one of those. He’s got a full complement of receivers this year, and it sounds like he’s showing signs of growth.
Dolphins, Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill had a lot of success during the red zone period vs. Bucs defense.

Number two of things I’m looking forward to this season: The Saints. OK, narrowing it down some, wide receiver Micheal Thomas and safety Tyrann Mathieu. Thomas, as you know, will be coming back from ankle surgery. He was a huge factor in the Saints’ offense, and part of the reason why they’ve had a couple of lack-luster seasons. I’ll just be excited to see him back on the field. Oh, and he’ll have WR Chris Olave.
Mathieu on the other hand, I’ll be excited because I’ve always liked his story, and watching him become one of the premiere defensemen has been fun for me. I’ll be excited to see how he can help improve the Saints’ defense this upcoming season. Besides, if all goes well this year, the Saints could potentially make a run at the division. But, as I said, all would have to go pretty well.
Number three of things I’m looking forward to this season: The Broncos. So, first off, they’ve always been my B team and I always want them to do well. But secondly, I was slightly disappointed last year because I think they had a chance to make a run. Sadly the injury bug got them good and losing their best defensive player in linebacker Von Miller didn’t help matters either. However, they now have former Seahawks QB, Russell Wilson, WRs KJ Hamler, Courtland Sutton, and Jerry Jeudy. This could be a really fun group to watch. The AFC West is definitely going to be one division to keep an eye on this season, and the Broncos could potentially make a run!
So, those are the 3 things (outside of the Lions) that I’m interested in this season. What about you? What outside of your team are you interested in keeping an eye on this season?
