Three months ago Tim Boyle was the New York Jets’ third-string quarterback and seen as unlikely to play at all in 2023. But this Friday, with the Jets’ season on the line, he’s getting his first start in two years.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Boyle addressed his mindset as he takes on the Miami Dolphins. He said that he has to feel like he’s “dangerous” now that he’s the starter.
“You gotta feel like you’re dangerous out there,” Boyle said, via Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.
NFL fans weren’t impressed by the quote those. Between the team’s struggles and his own history being ineffective under center, nobody is giving the Jets much of a chance to beat the Dolphins this week.

Tim Boyle made his first NFL start two years ago today in a 10-13 loss to the Cleveland Browns. He went 15 of 23 for 77 yards and two interceptions. Boyle went on to finish the season 0-3 as a starter with three touchdowns and six interceptions on just 94 passing attempts.
It’s not exactly a stat line that inspires confidence.
Nevertheless, the Jets have decided that Boyle will at least offer them a change of pace from the limited support they were getting under center from Zach Wilson.
Will Boyle be able to give the Jets offense a spark this Friday?
