Tom Brady will be spending the 2022 NFL season in Tampa Bay, as the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback came out of retirement last weekend.
The 44-year-old quarterback was retired for about a month, before deciding that he wasn’t ready to give up football.
According to a new report, though, Brady initially had other plans. The former New England Patriots quarterback reportedly had interest in joining the Miami Dolphins.
However, that plan was scrapped following Brian Flores’ lawsuit.
“I know that’s true because I heard it independently, and I know I heard it from a different source than Mike Florio heard it,” Ben Volin said on WEEI. “So that to me is the key. …
“Brady was gonna go run the Dolphins, and then Brian Flores files his lawsuit and throws a wrench in the entire thing. Now all of a sudden you’re worried about cell phones and discovery and all this stuff, so Brady, they scrap those plans. So now Brady’s looking at it, ‘Well, what am I gonna do? Sit around on my couch for a year? No, I might as well go play football.’”
NFL fans have taken to social media to weigh in on the drama.

“The GOAT was going to come to Miami. All would have been forgiven for his 20 year reign had he joined us,” a Dolphins fan admitted.
“Bill sent that text on purpose to get this started,” another fan joked about Bill Belichick.
“QBs dolphins have missed out on: Brees, Herbert, Watson, Brady,” another fan added on social media.

It’s a tough time to be a Dolphins fan, that is for sure.
Brady, meanwhile, will be playing for Super Bowl championship No. 8 in Tampa Bay next season.
