Top Ten Miami Dolphins for 2023

August 11, 2023 by Last Word On Pro Football

Miami Dolphins

There are expectations before every NFL season for all 32 teams and their fan bases. There will be expectations of players, that will meet those expectations. Some will exceed expectations. Lastly, each team will have players who do not fulfill their potential. This is the nature of pro sports and football is not any different. These are going to be the top Ten Miami Dolphins contributors in 2023.

Miami Dolphins Top 10 Players 2023

10) Kader Kohou, Cornerback

Kader Kohou exceeded everyone’s expectations last year. With the injury to Jaylen Ramsey, Kohou could once again see an increase in playing time this season.

9) Xavien Howard, Cornerback

This may be a surprise to some people. Xavien Howard was once, arguably the top player at his position a few years ago. He then signed a large contract and it could be argued, that since his play and his attributes have declined. He is still a very important and talented player for the Dolphins, but needs to return to the player he was before he “got paid.”

8)Emmanuel Ogbah, Defensive End

Ogbah has been somewhat of an unsung hero for the Dolphins. Ogbah is hoping to have a bounce-back season, after missing eight games due to injury last season.

7) Zach Sieler, Defensive End

Maybe it is the position, but Sieler, much like Ogbah is also an unsung hero of sorts, as well. Sieler has played past his potential since joining the Dolphins and looks to continue his stellar play.

6) Christian Wilkins, Defensive End

Another top, but often overlooked contributor, Wilkins looks to continue his consistent and stellar play, hoping to lead the Dolphins to “the Promised Land.”

5) Jaelan Philips, Linebacker

Once thought to be undeserving of his first-round draft status, Phillips has proven his doubters wrong. If Phillips can continue to prove his worth, Miami can be a force to be reckoned with, not only in the AFC East but in the NFL in general.

4) Tua Tagovailoa, Quarterback

This is a make-or-break year for Tua Tagovailoa. One of the primary objectives for the Dolphins, this season is to keep Tua healthy. With that in mind, the Dolphins are more likely to run the ball this season. Still, when the ball needs to get down the field efficiently, they will look to Tua to deliver. If he can have similar numbers he put up last season, and stay healthy, he can prove how valuable he is as an elite NFL quarterback, once and for all.

3) Jaylen Waddle, Wide Receiver

One half of a dynamic receiving duo, Jaylen Waddle has shown why he was such a highly touted pick coming out of Alabama. Waddle is still just beginning to show his full potential. It would not be surprising to see Waddle have a breakout year, especially if teams attempt to double-team Tyreek Hill.

2) Jevon Holland, Free Safety

If there is one player in the NFL who does not get enough credit for how great of a player he is, that player is Jevon Holland. Holland has been an absolute stud on the Dolphins defense. Many pundits seem to recognize how talented he is and how much he contributes on defense for the Phins. It would not be surprising to see Holland named All-Pro, this season.

1) Tyreek Hill, Wide Receiver

The most recognizable name on this list, Tyreek Hill looks to have an even better performance this season, than his 2022 season. In that 2022 season, Hill had 1,710 receiving yards. Hill has vowed to have over 2,000 receiving yards this season. If Tua can stay healthy, Hill’s prophecy is more likely to become a reality.

Takeaway

The Miami Dolphins do have a talented roster. Among the top ten players, are a blend of offensive and defensive talent. Some of these players are recognizable. Others contribute consistently and effectively but are often overlooked by media outlets. Some of the players on this list have played past their expectations, while others are no longer meeting, theirs. Regardless, these 10 players will be integral in helping the Dolphins attempt to do what has not been done in approximately 50 years. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, but what is certain, it will be entertaining to watch these 10 players try and do just that.
