Tua Tagovailoa compares the Dolphins' offense to Alabama's

April 20, 2022 by Dolphins Wire

Bringing in a new head coach into an organization usually comes with a lot of changes.

For the Miami Dolphins, bringing in Mike McDaniel has completely changed one whole side of the game. Instead of working with multiple co-offensive coordinators, Tua Tagovailoa will be working closely with McDaniel and offensive coordinator Frank Smith on a new system.

However, for Tagovailoa, this system isn’t 100% new for him.

“It’s very similar to what I’ve ran at Alabama, which, in a sense, makes it a little easier as far as verbiage and whatnot,” Tagovailoa said during his press conference on Wednesday. “That’s still a challenge. Kind of learning the verbiage, learning where everyone’s going, hearing Mike or Frank or whoever it is in the headset trying to give the call and then re-calling it to the offense. That’s something that I’ve gotta continue to get better at.”

Tagovailoa’s best days were during his time with the Crimson Tide, so having Miami’s offense get back to a similar system should help him see and understand what’s happening on the field in front of him from the second he leaves the huddle to the end of the play.

Of course, having Tyreek Hill and an improved offensive line will make a difference as well.
