Tua Tagovailoa Makes His Feelings On Dan Marino Very Clear

April 21, 2022 by The Spun

Tua Tagovailoa stretches on the field before a Miami Dolphins game.

The Miami Dolphins have been one of the most active teams through NFL free agency leading up to the draft.

Miami acquired Second-Team All-Pro left tackle Terron Armstead and All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill – among others so far. That leaves plenty of pressure on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa to perform.

Thankfully, Tagaovaila gets to learn from Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino every day. Earlier this week, Tua opened up on what it’s like to work closely with an NFL legend.

“It’s extremely meaningful and it means a lot because for someone like Dan to be sitting in our meetings — and this is from my rookie season, my rookie year when I first got here — it tells you a lot about, I guess, Dan as a person as well because Dan knows who he is,” Tagovailoa said.

Here’s more of what he said, via 247Sports:

“I mean, come on. You’ve got Dan Marino Boulevard or whatever that thing is. There’s a statue. I mean, Dan knows who he is. So for him to just sit down in our meetings, kind of stop the tape and tell us what his experiences were with this guy and a couple of the other guys that he’s had, he shares those things and success leaves footprints. And regardless of how much the game has changed — I mean, it’s still football, at the end of the day. So for Dan to be able to help us — not just me, but all the guys in the room — learn and grow, I think it’s amazing.”

The Dolphins should boast one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL – if Tua can hold up his end of the bargain.

He’ll be throwing to two dynamic wide receivers in Tyreek Hill and second-year wideout Jaylen Waddle.

Can he lead the team to the playoffs?
