There’s finally some good news regarding the health of Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Tagovailoa has finally cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol. He had been in the protocol ever since the Monday after the Dolphins’ Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Tagovailoa has met with medical professionals while waiting to be cleared. After meeting with them, it was determined that he should be at “100-percent” health when the Dolphins resume playing football this summer.
That definitely bodes well for the Dolphins picking up Tua’s fifth-year option. He’s heading into his fourth year with the team since going No. 5 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 2022 season was the breakout season the Miami Dolphins have wanted from Tua Tagovailoa since they drafted him. He went 8-5 as a starter, leading the league in touchdown percentage, yards per attempt, yards per completion and passer rating.
Tagovailoa was the driving force behind the Dolphins finally ending their playoff drought and getting into the postseason.
Unfortunately, the Dolphins quarterback sustained no less than two concussions throughout the course of the season and the amount of time he missed led many to believe that he might be forced to retire for the sake of his own health.
For now though, it appears that Tua is at least out of the woods from a health perspective.
