In just his second season in the NFL, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has already experienced being the subject of trade rumors.
Back in October, with the Dolphins again linked to Deshaun Watson, there were whispers Tagovailoa could be on the move. The organization and quarterback downplayed them at the time, and Tua wound up staying on and starting the rest of the season.
Heading into the final game of the 2021 regular season this weekend, Tagovailoa said he’s not wasting time worrying if his name will pop up in trade rumors again in the coming months.
Tua says he’s not worried about trade conversations for another QB potentially coming back up this offseason. “If it comes up, it comes up.”

Miami took Tua with the fifth overall pick in 2020, and in 22 career games thus far, the former Alabama star has been relatively solid, if not spectacular.
Assuming he’s back with the Dolphins in 2022, he faces what will be a pivotal season. If Miami isn’t sold on Tua after next season, they could opt to decline his fifth-year option or look to move him.
If they do trade him this offseason, it will likely be because the team has landed another quarterback with a higher-ceiling, like a Watson or Russell Wilson.
