Tua Tagovailoa is already putting his offseason jiu-jitsu training to good use.
After taking a hit vs. the Jaguars in Miami’s final preseason, Tua used his momentum the way he’s been taught (to his advantage) and absorbed the contact perfectly.
Via Dolphins reporter Marcel Louis-Jacques, “Tua’s jiu-jitsu coaches’ text to me after I sent them this tweet: ‘This clip is amazing. We literally drilled this every single session.'”

“The NFL’s biggest nightmare is Tua not hitting the back of his head on the turf! 14-3 season, and Tua MVP loading!” a user replied.

“Stark difference. Night & day. Whole back of his head woulda came crashing down after landing flat on back before. Said before most, if not all, he never learned how to fall behind the LOS when hit. No real problems beyond LOS in the past, HS 2 NFL, but behind it was a problem,” another person commented.

Let’s hope Tua can continue to stay upright in 2023.
