Tyreek Hill Announces Decision On Game vs. Patriots After Missing Practice Wednesday

Tyreek Hill’s Week 8 status became a question when the star Miami Dolphins wide receiver sat out Wednesday’s practice. He quickly put that mystery to rest.

Hill, who didn’t practice Wednesday due to a hip injury, returned to the field Thursday. He told reporters he’s playing this Sunday against the New England Patriots.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe said Hill looked like his usual self Thursday.

Hill hasn’t missed a game since joining Miami last year, and he’s poised to extend that streak. With that news, Dolphins fans can exhale.

Seven games into the season, Hill is on pace to become the first 2,000-yard receiver in NFL history. He’s caught 53 of 74 targets for a league-leading 902 yards and seven touchdowns.

The 29-year-old has found paydirt in three consecutive games and has a reception of at least 20 yards in all but one 2023 contest. Hill also leads the NFL with 363 yards after the catch.

Tua Tagovailoa appeared to give credence to the possibility of playing without Hill when discussing that scenario on Wednesday. The Dolphins quarterback declared that nobody can do what his top target can.

“If we couldn’t have Tyreek, that would be tough, but the show goes on,” Tagovailoa said. “You’ve got to continue to play, and somewhere down the line we’re going to get Tyreek back. It has to be one of those things where you never lift your foot off the gas and you don’t lose that rhythm as a team or a unit.”

Even after their 31-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dolphins comfortably lead the NFL in passing and rushing offense. Yet they weren’t as explosive in a 24-17 win over New England in Week 2.

The Patriots contained Hill to a season-low 40 yards in the September matchup. However, they have since lost star rookie cornerback Christian Gonzalez to a season-ending shoulder injury.

Hill will look to post a gaudier stat line in Sunday’s AFC East rematch, which starts at 1 p.m. ET.
