Tyreek Hill has been having a ton of fun since joining the Miami Dolphins. But the recent addition of a new teammate has him thrilled for training camp too.
The Dolphins recently signed veteran cornerback Eli Apple following the injury to starter Jalen Ramsey. While Apple has experience as a starter, he also has a habit of beefing with wide receivers – and Hill is no exception.
Speaking to the media this week, Hill said that he spoke to head coach Mike McDaniel about the signing and said he was fine with it. More importantly, he is now looking forward to getting to “embarrass him every day” in practice.
‘Well, when I heard about it, coach had called me,” Hill said. “He was like, ‘Hey, Reek, we finna sign somebody.’ I was like, ‘Who y’all finna sign?’ He was like, ‘We finna sign Eli Apple.’ I was like, ‘Aight, cool.’ He was like, ‘You ain’t got a problem with that?’ I was like, ‘Nah, I ain’t got no problem with that. Why would I have a problem with that?’ So I just feel like a lot of people, it just get fed into what’s going on in social media, and that’s not really what it is. I was fired up for us to be able to add another competitor to this team because that makes us better in the long run, having that cornerback depth. Eli, he’s a great guy. I know we had some battles, but at the end of the day, man, we’re all trying to win. We’re all trying to get better.”
“And now, my looking from it is now I get to embarrass him every day.”

Eli Apple and Tyreek Hill got into it on social media prior to last year’s Dolphins-Bengals game. The Bengals went on to win the game, 27-15, dealing Miami their first loss of the season in the process (albeit after Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa got knocked out of the game).
