A speedy Miami Dolphins offense demonstrated significant firepower last season, and Tyreek Hill doesn’t see them slowing down in 2023.
Courtesy of KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson, Hill talked up the unit during a youth football camp in Pearland, Texas. The star wideout believes quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is in store for a massive year with Hill, Jaylen Waddle, and a backfield that added former track star Devon Achane.
“Obviously we got one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the NFL, and I’m sticking to my stance on that,” Hill said. “So having Tua at quarterback and having the offensive guru we have in our head coach is wonderful. Having those weapons at his disposal, he’s going to go crazy. He can have me and Waddle on one side, Devon and Raheem (Mostert) on another side. The sky is the limit for this offense.”
Hill raised eyebrows last season by claiming Tagovailoa is more accurate than his former Kansas City Chiefs teammate, Patrick Mahomes. While Mahomes posted a higher completion rate before hoisting his second Lombardi Trophy, Tagovailoa was the only qualified quarterback to post a higher passer rating (105.5).
Tagovailoa also averaged a staggering 8.9 yards per attempt alongside an electric group of skill players.
Hill set career highs in receptions (119) and receiving yards (1,710), and Waddle tallied an NFL-best 18.1 yards per catch. The blistering duo exceeded 11 teams by combining for 46 receptions of 20 yards or more.
But rather than inserting Tagovailoa into the NFL’s elite tier of quarterbacks, most of the focus has gone to his health. He suffered two known concussions last season, the last of which ended his season in Week 16.
The Dolphins finished sixth in total offense despite Tua missing four games. If he’s healthy, the offense could reach the sky-high ceiling Hill referenced.
