José Ramon Sanchez will present on Wednesday the 26th at Espacio Magallanes “Living to Draw”, a work that brings together the tremendous creative work throughout his career as a cartoonist, illustrator and illustrator.
Thus UNATE, the permanent university, adds the display of this work to its cultural activity open to the general public. Through the dialogue between artist and editor Jesús Herrán, a journey has been taken that covers almost all of his work.
This post collects in 923 sample images of pencil drawings that José Ramón Sanchez drew throughout his life, from the age of six to eighty. Unit said in a statement that it represented “the professional testament of an artist who based his work on the solidity of painting.”
Today, José Ramón is considered one of our greatest cartoonists. During his career, he was awarded the Lazarillo Prize and the National Illustration Prize, among others, and above all, the affection of a generation of young people who learned to draw with him and continued to consider him as their teacher.
2022 will be the year of the artist. He will be awarded the Silver Santander Medal, and the provincial government’s Ministry of Culture is preparing an exhibition in honor of the cartoonist, painter and illustrator. A traveling exhibition in the spaces of Santander, Botis, Laredo and Torrelavega, which will travel to Madrid in the fall.
UNATE, therefore, joins in honoring and recognizing the artist, inaugurating the Espacio Magallanes, as a cultural meeting point and intergenerational sharing.
