Dennis Schroeder agrees to 1 year and $5.9 million with Celtics

The deal is for one year and will be for $5.9 million, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Schroeder, 27, has rejected the maximum extension offered by the Los Angeles Lakers to the main guard during the regular season, worth more than $80 million, in pursuit of a more lucrative deal over the summer.

The Lakers have since explored options trade involving Schroeder after seeing their replay of the championship come too short after the Phoenix Suns eliminated them in the first round.

Schroeder averaged a disappointing 14.3 points at 40 percent of shots (30.8 percent of 3) and 2.8 assists in the series as he returned to the Lakers lineup with only two games left in the regular season after battling COVID-19 and was out for two weeks in The last stage of the season.

Lakers vice president of basketball operations and general manager Rob Pelinka has made it clear that Los Angeles is interested in keeping Schroeder close, even though his fitness may be in his first year with the franchise.

“There are a lot of different things we have to evaluate out there, but Dennis is an attractive player to us only because of what he offers,” Pelinka said in early June.
