The Miami Heat and guard Dru Smith have agreed to a three-year contract. Smith has spent the at least part of the last three seasons with the Heat on a two-way contract. As Smith was out of two-way eligibility with Miami, he needed to be signed to a standard deal.
Smith has elevated himself from a two-way contract to regular rotation player in each of the last two seasons. Unfortunately, both seasons ended prematurely with a major injury. In 2023-24, Smith suffered a torn ACL. Last season, the 6-foot-2 guard suffered a torn Achilles’.
In 14 NBA games last season, Smith averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 19.2 minutes per game. He shot 51% from the field, including 53% on 2.1 three-point attempts per game.
