England 6-0 Northern Ireland: Eileen White hat-trick in Hage Rise’s first game

February 23, 2021 by Hoops Hype Leave a Comment

Eileen White scored a hat-trick in England’s victory over Northern Ireland in Hague Rice’s first match as interim tournament manager.

In a friendly match at St George’s Park training base in England, Norwegian Reese oversaw the lionesses’ team until Sarina Wegmann took charge after the Summer Olympics, and saw her team beat visitors in tumultuous conditions.

White scored an impressive hat-trick, Lucy Bronze’s score, Rachel Daly’s finish at close range, and Ella Ton’s penalty, to a landslide victory in his first England game in nearly 12 months, and the first since the departure of coach Phil Neville.

Midfielder Jill Scott gave a leadership performance on the occasion of her 150th appearance in England, becoming only the second player to reach that number after Vara Williams.

Exhausted Northern Ireland Kenny Shells failed to score a snap of any description but will now focus on the most pressing task of qualifying for Euro next year, when they play in the April play-off.

They had Becky Flaherty to thank them for keeping the score low, with the Sheffield United goalkeeper making an impressive save, but the score reversed 43 places between the two sides in the rankings.

Rice gets her offensive desire

Bridging the gap between Neville and his successor Wegman – who will take over after leading her country to the Netherlands in the Olympics – Reese has spoken of trying to bring attacking intent to this England team. They have faltered with only three wins from Neville’s last nine games before long without matches as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

And the Norwegian legend got exactly what she asked for, as the lionesses quickly moved the ball from behind to create a host of opportunities.

White was the main benefactor, moving to 39 international goals, first by taking advantage of the ball after Northern Ireland’s defense gave her the ball, heading in a bronze cross and then ending a pass from Scott, who bagged the captain’s armband in her historic 150th hat..

Bronze, FIFA’s best player of 2020, took advantage of Lauren Hemp’s low pass before half-time and later rolled the ball to Daly to collect it, before Ton Score the soccer player for the first time from the penalty spot after Rachel Holloway dropped Chloe Kelly.

England, which also brought Sandy McIver, Eboni Salmon, and Charlotte Woben-Moi for the first time, has another friendly against Canada in April, before a British team heads to Japan to participate in the Olympics, although FIFA is the best. He’s named yet who will run the team in Tokyo.

Greater games coming to Northern Ireland

Reyes may be on the coaching staff when it comes to selecting the UK squad, although few of the Northern Ireland squad had a compelling case for inclusion based on this game alone.

This score should not detract from the incredible progress the Chelsea team has made, winning all of the last four group qualifiers at the end of last year to raise the likelihood of reaching the European Championship.

Northern Ireland women will participate in their first-ever Grand Slam if they can win the first-leg match in April, against a hitherto unknown competitor, but they need stronger performance and a more experienced squad to give them the best possible chance. .

Northern Ireland arrived at St.George’s Park with a large squad of their squad unavailable due to injuries and work commitments, with sisters Kirsty and Caitlyn McGuinness and first-keeper Jackie Burns and midfielder Demi Vance losing.

That means there was a spot for 16-year-old Ella Hoge on the bench alongside Holloway’s first start at left-back, and while Burns substitute Flaherty was touched between sticks, visitors barely put a glove on England, and barely entered. Half of the host side.

There were quotes from Shells’ constant desire to see his team play from behind, but he often led to England dedicating the ball and ultimately led to a crushing defeat.

“We showed character” – what they said

Interim England manager Haig Rise told BBC Sport Significantly [I’m pleased with] Six goals, four players who got their first game, and we pressed for 90 minutes and wanted more goals. We tried to find the pockets between them, and we ran towards them and I think we showed the character.

“Maybe we could have scored more goals but the performance and energy we put into the match were good.”

About striker Eileen White: “She’s a leader and always wants to score. She’s always looking to run in the penalty area. Three goals and amazing goals.”

Jill Scott, who won her 150th title with England, told BBC Sport: “The game was really fun. Really happy for Ella Ton and the other girls who made their debut, so it was an amazing day all the time.

Many thanks to Steve [Houghton] To allow me to carry the captain’s armband today. I put in a lot of effort to make sure it was a special day for me.

“I was overwhelmed by all the messages, I was just trying to focus on the game but now I can finally relax. All I do is just make my family proud but I don’t think this drowned yet.”
