Miami is looking for someone to play as a small-ball four.

With the start of free agency just moments away, the rumors have flown. The Miami Heat are said to be interested in reuniting former Toronto Raptors teammates Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan, according to Marc Stein and the 5 Reasons Sports Network.

The Miami Heat are trying to figure out a way to reunite free agent DeMar DeRozan with his former Raptors teammate Kyle Lowry in Miami, multiple sources have told #5RSN.

In addition to its increasingly promising pursuit of Kyle Lowry, Miami has been exploring pathways for acquiring Lowry’s former teammate and free agent-to-be DeMar DeRozan as well, league sources say.

Rudy Gay, who has been a teammate of DeRozan’s in San Antonio for the past three seasons, has also drawn interest from the Heat. Gay appears to be a better fit as a small-ball four for Miami because of his willingness to take 3s. DeRozan, like Jimmy Butler, doesn’t like taking 3s.

Another of those SFs-who-can-play-PF UFA names to keep an eye on: Rudy Gay (11.4 ppg, 4.1 rbs, 38.1 on threes last yr). Heat has interest, per source.(One of several PFs on Miami’s list.) Miami will need to find 2 PFs if Precious included in Lowry trade.Could bring back Ariza too

Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports listed Miami as a team with interest in Nicolas Batum, the lanky forward who appeared to crater in Charlotte before a career resurgence with the Los Angeles Clippers this past year. He shot 40 percent from 3 with the Clippers. Christian Hernandez of Miami Heat Beat tweeted that the Heat are considering offering Batum the mid-level exception.

The Los Angeles Clippers are hoping to re-sign Nicolas Batum, but the free-agent forward also receiving interest from Miami, Golden State and Indiana, league sources tell @YahooSports.
