Since it became clear that the Memphis Grizzlies were prepared to listen to trade offers for Ja Morant, the Miami Heat emerged as his preferred destination. However, the Heat will not make a move for Morant if there’s still a possibility to acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo who has been linked with the Heat since at least 2020 before he signed his initial supermax extension with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Morant is currently injured with an elbow sprain after recently missing six games due to a calf injury.
“He would love, I think, to go to the Miami Heat, but the Miami Heat are not even going to entertain that when there’s a possibility of trading for Giannis,” said Brian Windhorst on Get Up.
Morant is averaging 19.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 8.1 assists in 20 games this season.
Windhorst added that the uncertainty of Antetokounmpo’s situation could lead to Morant not resolving his situation with the Grizzlies until the offseason.
