“Every legacy has a beginning.” With this phrase, the Los Angeles Lakers revealed on their Twitter page their new jersey from the “Classic Edition” series, which will hint at the team’s first home uniform when they moved from Minnesota to Los Angeles.
According to a statement from the NBA, the uniform will maintain the blue and gold mix of the 1950s Minneapolis Lakers, with the “Lakers” lettering in the original Minneapolis typeface. The Nike logo will be a modernized version of the logo the company used in the ’70s and ’80s, and the franchise is celebrating its 75th anniversary this season.

Stitched numbers appear on the front and back of the shirt in 1950s blue Minneapolis. The Nike logo from the ’70s and ’80s appears on the right side of the shirt, but in a more modern version.
