Miami Heat vs Boston Celtics game postponed due to inconclusive COVID test

The Heat would not have had enough available players tonight.

After a Miami Heat player’s COVID-19 test has come back inconclusive, the NBA have postponed tonight’s game against the Boston Celtics.

Because of the inconclusive test, the Heat will not have the required eight player minimum needed to proceed with the game. The Athletic’s Sham Charania was the first to report the news.

The Boston Celtics-Miami Heat game tonight has been postponed, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium. A Heat player has returned an inconclusive test, and team does not have required eight players to proceed with game tonight due to contact tracing.

Earlier today it was announced that the Heat would be without Avery Bradley for the foreseeable future.

Heat listing Avery Bradley (health and safety protocols) as out tonight.

Also on Heat injury report:
Goran Dragic (right knee soreness), Meyers Leonard (left shoulder strain), Kelly Olynyk (left groin contusion) are questionable. Gabe Vincent (right knee soreness) is probable.

With the Heat having played the Washington Wizards just last night, it remains to be seen what the league-wide repercussions of today’s development will be.

ESPN Sources: While the Celtics-Heat game has been postponed tonight, the NBA has no plans to pause the season despite thinning rosters because of COVID-19 protocols in several places.

The Celtics were scheduled to only dress the minimum eight players for tonight’s game. The team has nine players currently out, including seven as a direct result of the NBA’s health and safety protocols for the COVID-19 pandemic.
