Pro Bettor Placed 30 Wagers On Terry Rozier Props Before 2023 NBA Game Exit

July 18, 2025 by Real GM

A professional bettor placed 30 wagers totaling $13,759 on Terry Rozier prop bet unders before a March 2023 Charlotte Hornets game, according to documents obtained by ESPN. All bets won after Rozier exited the game after 10 minutes citing a foot injury.

The betting activity occurred at Harrah’s Gulf Coast in Biloxi, Mississippi on March 23, 2023, before the Hornets-Pelicans matchup. The bettor placed wagers on under totals for Rozier’s points, rebounds, and assists, with the largest single bet reaching $2,700 on under 5.5 rebounds.

At least six sportsbooks across multiple states detected suspicious betting patterns on Rozier props that day. The bulk of unusual activity occurred in Louisiana and Mississippi, according to sources familiar with a U.S. Integrity monitoring report.

The NBA investigated the betting irregularities in 2023 and found no league rule violations. However, Rozier remains under federal investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, though he has not been charged with wrongdoing.

U.S. Integrity issued a nationwide alert about “Suspicious Wagering Terry Rozier NBA Player Props” at 2:24 p.m. on game day. Most major sportsbooks halted betting on Rozier props within an hour of the alert.

The investigation connects to the same federal probe that resulted in former Toronto Raptors center Jontay Porter’s NBA ban. Some betting accounts that wagered on Porter also placed bets on Rozier props, according to gambling industry sources.

Rozier’s attorney Jim Trusty said his client is not a target of the ongoing investigation. Trusty noted that Rozier met with NBA and FBI officials multiple times in 2023, with the initial investigation clearing him of wrongdoing.

“It’s unfortunate that he’s a big name in sports and is having to endure all this,” Trusty told ESPN. “My hope and expectation is that at some point that they’ll be done with their investigation and will be professional enough to let us know that it’s 100 percent over.”

Rozier finished the game with 5 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, all under the betting lines. He did not play the remainder of the season and was traded to the Miami Heat in January 2024.
