Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have been a perfect match for both parties.
Butler has finally found a team that wants to win as badly as he does, and the Heat’s culture has been the perfect place for him to thrive. Ron Rothstein joined The Joe Rose Show Tuesday morning and had an interesting comparison for Jimmy.
“Jimmy was searching for a place like the Miami Heat because that’s who he is, he’s one of the most unselfish players I’ve ever been around,” Coach Rothstein said. “You might get a kick out of this, and some people’s eyebrows may raise, but I compare him to Bill Laimbeer in this regard. To me Bill, of all the guys I ever coached, he was the most selfless player and cared more about winning more than anybody I’ve ever been around. He didn’t care if you scored a point but it was all about winning. From everything I know about Jimmy, he just cares about winning and that’s an amazing trait in today’s athletes.”
Butler’s winning mentality has his Heat team just two wins away from a birth in the NBA Finals. Game 4 is Wednesday night with Miami up 2-1 in the series.
