Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups will not be paid by their respective teams while on leaves of absence dictated by the NBA, sources tell ESPN.
The compensation for Rozier will be withheld and placed in escrow pending the outcome of their indictments.Rozier is on a $26.6 million expiring contract with the Miami Heat this season. Rozier will be paid in full if he is cleared and allowed to return to the NBA.
Billups is on a $7 million salary this season with the Portland Trail Blazers and his compensation won’t be held in escrow as he will lost it until the outcome of the FBI’s case is determined.
The charges against Rozier are similar to what former Jontay Porter faced before he was banned from the league by Adam Silver in 2024. Sportsbooks detected unusual activity centered on Rozier as they did with Porter.
