The Football Association made the decision by Jurgen Klopp after the Liverpool coach’s comments on the Manchester United penalty shoot-out

January 5, 2021 by Hoops Hype Leave a Comment

Jurgen Klopp escaped the FA fine despite criticizing Andre Mariner and questioning Manchester United’s penalty-kick record.

The German made the remarks after his team lost 1-0 to Southampton Monday evening. Klopp felt his team should have had a penalty kick in the first half when Sadio Mane fell after colliding with Kyle Walker Peters.

Liverpool’s negative performance led to only their second defeat of the season, and United now, leveling on points with a game in hand, now have a chance to move forward.

Annoyed by the decision, Klopp claimed that Mariner did not handle Mane’s moment properly. Not stopping there, the Reds coach also questioned the large number of penalties that United took off. During the 2018/19 and 19/20 seasons, United received 11 more penalties than any other team in the league.

But despite his comments, Klopp will not face any action, according to Manchester Evening News.

“We had a really good view [the Mane incident]”It looked like a clear penalty,” Klopp said full-time. “I turned to the fourth referee and asked if he was going to be checked, and he said it was indeed and not a penalty. That’s 100 percent right, and now someone wants to tell me how fast he is at all these different angles.

“Last year, there was a penalty against Leicester When people said Sadio Mane falls easily – if he fell so easily, we would have had a penalty kick in this match and the last game, a penalty kick, but what Andre Mariner did with Sadio Mane, I’m not sure if that was okay.

“The boy has tried everything, and has faced some big challenges with Walker Peters. But there were a lot of situations that should have been free kicks. The last one, when he gets down, you see it in the back and in the square he hits the end with his left foot, that’s a penalty kick.” .

“We cannot change. I hear that now Manchester United My penalties in two years were more than I had been in five and a half years. I have no idea if this is my fault, or how it might happen. ”

Managers can be penalized for their post-match comments, but the FA says “provided they are not personal in nature, indicate prejudice or attack the integrity of the referees responsible for the match, or abuse the game in any way.”

Although Klopp has questioned the number of United’s penalties, it appears his comments were not strong enough to warrant any action.
