Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is closing in on a return from offseason ankle surgery. Herro is targeting Monday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks for his season debut.
Herro returned to practice earlier this week. He’s been out since ankle surgery in September.
Herro was an All-Star for Miami last season. The veteran guard averaged career-bests at 23.9 points and 5.5 assists per game.
Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said he’s confident that Herro will fit into the team’s new scheme. Miami has switched to a motion-based offense that features drive-and-kick actions. The Heat are also playing far faster than they ever have, which is a chance from their slowdown, pick-and-roll-heavy offense of the past.
