The Atlanta Braves have acquired outfielder Adam Duvall from the Miami Marlins for minor league catcher Alex Jackson.
They have also traded infielder Pablo Sandoval to the Cleveland Indians in exchange for outfielder Eddie Rosario.

However, they will have to wait to activate him as he remains on the injured list with an abdominal problem. Both of these trades address needs in the outfield. Presently, the Braves have Ehire Adrianza, Guillermo Heredia, Joc Pederson, and Orlando Arcia as their main outfielders. While each has contributed to the team this season, the group is sorely missing the bat and energy of Ronald Acuna Jr. Adding Duvall’s powerful swing and Rosario’s veteran presence could help towards filling that hole.

Eddie Rosario
Rosario is hitting .254 on the season with seven home runs and 46 RBI. He has 72 hits and 15 doubles in 78 games. He’s slugging .389 and getting on base at a .289 clip with a WAR of 0.4. His OPS+ is 84 and he’s striking out over 15% of the time. However, he has put up decent power numbers in the past. Two years ago with the Minnesota Twins, he went deep 32 times with 109 RBI. He’s also shown to hit for a respectable average. If he can find a small bit of his earlier power when he returns, this could be a good move for the Braves. It’s simply a matter of reacquiring his stroke.
Adam Duvall
For Duvall, it’s a bit of a reunion. He wore the Atlanta Braves uniform for the past two and a half seasons. This year, he’s hitting .229 with a .277 on-base percentage. However, he’s launched 22 homers, has 68 RBI, and is slugging .478. His OPS+ is 102 and his WAR is 2.0, the highest since his days with the Cincinnati Reds. In short, he could be a boost to an already powerful lineup. Freddie Freeman and Austin Riley have both shown their ability for the long ball this season. Having Duvall could help bring the team to an even higher level of power.
