MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the fiery crash of an RV on the Turnpike, resulting in the deaths of two people on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities say that just before 4 p.m., FHP got reports of a car crash on the southbound Turnpike at Mile Marker 8, near SW 112th Avenue.
Initial reports said a motorhome was towing a red jeep. Somehow, the motorhome lost control and traveled off the roadway where it later struck a large concrete barrier wall.
An adult male was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene, according to authorities.
After RV hit wall, it immediately caught on fire. Authorities said a woman was pulled out of the motor home.
She was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid the area.
