Picks are only valid if submitted to us prior to first pitch.

The Fish Picks leaderboard is updated daily. Congrats to @vjmwilliams, who picked a Perfect Game on Tuesday.

At the end of each month, the Fish Picks winner—whoever has the percentage of correct picks (among qualifiers)—will get to choose between a 305 Cafecito Candle from our partners at 305 Candles ($49 value) and a hand-painted Trevor Rogers baseball card from the Topps MLB Living Set. Everybody’s point totals have been reset for the start of August.

Tuesday’s Marlins Starting Lineup (today’s lineup coming soon)

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  3. 2B Isan Díaz
  4. RF Lewis Brinson
  5. 3B Brian Anderson
  6. LF Jorge Alfaro
  7. C Sandy León
  8. CF Magneuris Sierra

RHP Sandy Alcantara (2021 season stats: 3.70 ERA, 3.86 FIP, 21.4 K%, 38.8 HardHit% in 136.1 IP)

Notes: With a lefty set to take the mound against the Marlins, here’s your periodic reminder that Rojas thrives in these matchups. His 190 wRC+ vs. LHP since the beginning of last season is second-best among all MLB qualifiers (Trea Turner, 195)…Even with shaky infield depth around him, Joe Panik’s role has been reduced to glorified pinch-hitter. He enters the day with only two games started since the trade deadline…The most well-rested pitchers available out of the Marlins bullpen are Anthony Bass, Anthony Bender, Paul Campbell, Ross Detwiler, Dylan Floro and David Hess.

Tuesday’s Padres Starting Lineup (today’s lineup coming soon)

  1. LF Tommy Pham
  2. 2B Adam Frazier
  3. 3B Manny Machado
  4. SS Jake Cronenworth
  5. C Austin Nola
  6. 1B Eric Hosmer
  7. RF Wil Myers
  8. CF Trent Grisham

LHP Ryan Weathers (2021 season stats: 4.26 ERA, 5.02 FIP, 16.9 K%, 43.2 HardHit% in 69.2 IP)

Ryan Weathers - 2021 Frequency of Pitches by Pitch Speed

Notes: Weathers pitched four scoreless innings against the Marlins on July 24, but got obliterated by the Rockies and Diamondbacks in his next two outings. At age 21, he’s currently the youngest pitcher on any active MLB roster…The Padres overall have a pedestrian 20-19 record in day this season (compared to 46-30 in all other games).

How to watch/listen/follow

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. ET. Watch on Bally Sports Florida or listen to the radio broadcast on 940 WINZ.

Louis Addeo-Weiss will handle the game recap article.

All four Marlins full-season minor league affiliates are also in action (weather permitting). Follow @FishProspects for notes and highlights.
