MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Miami-Dade police and Florida Fish and Wildlife agents continue to search by boat and air for a man who fell off a personal watercraft.
It happened Tuesday night in a lake in the area of NW 124th Avenue and NW 25th Street.
The FWC said they were notified by Miami-Dade police about a boating accident involving two occupants of personal watercraft at the lake. The missing man has been identified as 20-year-old Alexander Garcia.
A man who works in the area said he regularly sees a group of about 10 to 20 people come out but he doesn’t think it’s the safest place for water sports.
“Most lakes have navigational markers, even the channels in the Keys and out in the bay. There’s also mapping so you know the hazards underneath. You don’t know what’s submerged under these surfaces,” he said. “It’s just so sad to see somebody have this happen to them.”
Authorities haven’t said how the accident happened.
