Let’s have some fun with the 2021 Marlins Photo Day headshots.
Continuity. There is a new general manager of the Marlins for this season, a new veteran, power-hitting outfielder and a revamped bullpen, but all things considered, a major theme of their 2021 team is continuity. They are running it back with many of the familiar faces from the 2020 postseason run while banking on top prospects to reach their potential. As discussed at length on Friday, there are both pros and cons of this approach.
Only 15 players on the Marlins spring training roster (including members of the 40-man roster and non-roster invitees) are new to the organization, acquired since October. In alphabetical order, they are: Anthony Bass, Anthony Bender, Paul Campbell, Adam Cimber, John Curtiss, Ross Detwiler, Jake Fishman, Dylan Floro, Alexander Guillen, Sandy León, Luís Madero, Luis Marté, Shawn Morimando, Zach Pop and Zach Thompson. All of them are shown below—in a randomized order—as pictured during Wednesday’s Photo Day session with photographer Adam Glanzman.
If you’d like some hints (height, weight, age, etc.), open this article in a new browser tab. But I would recommend approaching this honestly so that we can laugh about our mistakes together.
Leave a comment with your player guesses numbered from one through 15. I’ll publish the answer key on Monday.
