Editor’s Note:

Milwaukee – Before the Marlins game on Saturday with the Milwaukee Brewers at American Friendly Field, Last Word On Sports Brewers Writer Andrew Wagner asked Marlins manager Skip Schumacher if he can share any specific conversations he’s had with Chisholm and how that will prepare him for his Yankees tenure:

“Yeah, Jazz and I had a lot of conversations throughout the years, throughout I guess year and a half. John Jay was like a big brother to him. There’s a lot of heart-to-heart conversations with him on and off the field. I think more than anything what we care about is the person. I think he knows that there was a lot of tough conversations at times, but it came from a good place. All we wanted for him to do was to be better and to get him better in a number of different ways, and in that conversation before he left, I think he understood where we were coming from and big picture wise, he gets it. Hopefully we prepared him for the New York media and everything else because it’s going to be a lot and I’m hoping he’s ready for it.”
