Eric Robinson Extended by Carolina Hurricanes

Robinson has played for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Buffalo Sabres and Hurricanes in eight season. This year was Robinson’s most productive in his pro career. The Bellmawr, New Jersey native totaled 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points in 82 games this season. He had a Corsi for of 57.0 and a relative Corsi of -1.8.

The 30-year-old has 54 goals and 69 assists for 123 points in 388 career games. Robinson as an undrafted free agent out of college on a two-year entry-level deal with the Blue Jackets. The veteran winger was a standout player at Princeton in the NCAA. He was part of the 2018 All-ECAC Tournament team.

Robinson has also represented his native United States on the international level. He helped Team USA win a bronze medal at the 2021 IIHF World Championships.

What It Means

The veteran forward came over in free agency after playing 40 games for the Sabres. It was a solid depth signing that has worked out well for the Hurricanes.

Getting 14 goals from a depth forward is a bonus and helped Carolina make a run to the Eastern Conference Finals. This was a low-key good signing and Robinson is getting rewarded with a nice contract of four years.

His size makes him a solid addition to a good forward group in the league. Robinson seems like he’ll figure into the Hurricanes’ plans and the signing is a good value one by general manager Eric Tulsky. Carolina is looking to take the next step and Robinson will figure into this.
