Florida Panthers announce initial roster for 2020-21 season

Sergei Bobrovsky considered non-roster to start

Florida Panthers General Manager Bill Zito announced today the club’s opening night roster for the 2020-21 National Hockey League season. The Cats open their season on Sunday, January 17 against the Chicago Blackhawks at BB&T Center.

The following players have been named to the Panthers 22-man roster:

Forwards (13)

10 – Brett Connolly

11 – Jonathan Huberdeau (A)

13 – Vinnie Hinostroza

16 – Aleksander Barkov (C)

21 – Alex Wennberg

23 – Carter Verhaeghe

27 – Eetu Luostarinen

55 – Noel Acciari

70 – Patric Hornqvist

74 – Owen Tippett

77 – Frank Vatrano

91 – Anthony Duclair

94 – Ryan Lomberg

Defensemen (7)

3 – Keith Yandle

5 – Aaron Ekblad (A)

6 – Anton Stralman

7 – Radko Gudas

42 – Gustav Forsling

52 – MacKenzie Weegar

61 – Riley Stillman

Goaltenders (2)

33 – Sam Montembeault

The following four players have been assigned to the Panthers Taxi Squad:

20 – Aleksi Heponiemi

Additionally, forward Grigori Denisenko, defenseman Chase Priskie, forward Cole Schwindt and forward Scott Wilson have been loaned to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

The following players are non-roster:

4 – Tommy Cross (season-opening injury reserve)

72 – Sergei Bobrovsky

Defenseman Kevin Connauton and forward Rodrigo Abols were placed on waivers.
