NHL Predictions
Carolina Hurricanes vs Florida Panthers
Series Head-to-Head: Hurricanes 0-3 Panthers
Time: 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)
TV: TNT, TruTV, CBC, Sportsnet, TVAS, Max
We have a possible series-decider in this round of NHL Predictions. Florida is on the edge of reaching its third straight Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers have dominated the Hurricanes in the first three games of this series. Florida has outscored Carolina by a 16-4 clip in the first three games of the series.
The loss is the 15th straight defeat in an Eastern Conference Final series for Carolina. Head coach Rod Brind’Amour tried to make a goalie change, but that did not bear fruit. The Hurricanes are going to do all they can to force the series back to Raleigh.
Let’s take a look at the stats and storylines heading into Game 4 of this Eastern Conference Final series in this round of NHL predictions.
The Hurricanes Story
Carolina made the change to Pyotr Kochetkov in between the pipes in Game 3. The Hurricanes were tied 1-1 after 40 minutes, but the Panthers rattled off five third-period goals to put the game out of reach. It’s uncertain if Frederik Andersen will get a shot at redemption, but always check social media before locking in a fantasy starter.
The Canes’ offence has been stymied this series and has barely averaged a goal per game in the first three. Carolina is more known for its defence, but they have to score goals in order to win games.
The Panthers Story
Florida is running like a well-oiled machine and playing like the defending Stanley Cup champs. The Cats are playing well at both ends of the ice and are playing like the clear favourites to repeat.
Sergei Bobrovsky has been rounding back into form and the Panthers’ defence is limiting opportunities. Florida is also getting contributions from the entire roster. The Panthers have 10 players with over 10 points so far this post-season. Aleksander Barkov leads the team in points with 15 so far.
Prediction
Carolina is desperate to end this dubious ECF losing streak. Brind’Amour’s clubs always play hard, but the Hurricanes look outgunned at this point.
Florida doesn’t want to get complacent and Paul Maurice’s teams usually finish the job. A win would allow dinged-up players like Sam Reinhart to rest up after suffering a lower-body injury that caused him to miss Game 3.
The Panthers take care of business and book its fourth trip to the Stanley Cup Final in franchise history.
Prediction: Panthers win 4-2.
Prop Bets of the Night
We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over/under for this game is 5.5 and the Panthers’ scoring prowess will help them get the over in this one.
As for individual props, go with Seth Jarvis to get a point for Carolina. On the Florida side of things, take Brad Marchand to collect the over on 0.5 points.
