NHL Predictions for the Western Conference Second Round, Game 4

Vegas Golden Knights vs Edmonton Oilers

Series: Golden Knights 1 – 2 Oilers

Time: 9:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

TV: TNT, truTV, MAX, CBC, SN, TVAS

The Vegas Golden Knights clawed back into the series with a dramatic 4–3 victory in Game 3, capped by Reilly Smith‘s goal with just 0.4 seconds remaining. Despite missing captain Mark Stone due to an upper-body injury, Vegas showcased their resilience and depth, with contributions from Nicolas Roy and William Karlsson.

The Edmonton Oilers, meanwhile, saw early success with Corey Perry netting two goals in the first period. In the process, Perry became the third-oldest player to score two goals in a period in the postseason. Nicklas Lidstrom and Teemu Selanne being the other two. Connor McDavid tied the game late in the third, but the Oilers couldn’t hold on. Goaltender Stuart Skinner, returning to the net, made 25 saves but was unable to secure the win.

Edmonton Oilers Seeking a Strong Response

The Oilers aim to bounce back in Game 4 after a heartbreaking loss. Corey Perry’s early goals in Game 3 highlighted the team’s offensive depth, while McDavid’s late-game heroics underscored his leadership. However, defensive lapses and goaltending inconsistencies proved costly. With Calvin Pickard still sidelined due to injury, Skinner is expected to start again.

Edmonton’s power play remains a potent weapon, but they’ll need to tighten their defensive play and maintain discipline to prevent Vegas from capitalizing on turnovers. A focused and cohesive effort is essential to regain control of the series.

Vegas Golden Knights Looking to Even Things Up

Vegas demonstrated their championship pedigree in Game 3, overcoming a two-goal deficit and the absence of key players. Reilly Smith’s clutch performance and contributions from the supporting cast have rejuvenated the team’s confidence.

With the series momentum shifting, the Golden Knights will look to replicate their balanced attack and physical play. Goaltender Adin Hill‘s steady presence provides stability, and the team’s depth will be crucial as they aim to even the series before returning to Las Vegas.

NHL Prediction for Game 3

Game 4 presents a pivotal moment in the series. The Oilers, fueled by the desire to rebound, will likely come out with intensity, aiming to reassert their dominance. Conversely, the Golden Knights, buoyed by their recent victory, will strive to maintain their momentum.

Expect a tightly contested battle, with both teams emphasizing disciplined play and capitalizing on special teams opportunities. Given Edmonton’s offensive firepower and the urgency to respond, they have a slight edge in this matchup.

Prediction: Oilers win 4 – 3.

Prop Bets of the Night

We round out NHL Predictions with some prop bets of the night. Plus odds for Leon Draisaitl anytime goal (+110) are great value, considering his consistent scoring. Also consider McDavid 2+ assists (+150), as he’s due for one of his offensive explosions. Lastly, take a look at Corey Perry over 0.5 goals (+275), given his recent offensive contributions. (Postseason Record: 14-15)
