Lundell wins Liiga showdown against Luostarinen
Florida Panthers prospects Anton Lundell and Eetu Luostarinen went head-to-head on Friday in Finland with Lundell’s HIFK squad scoring a solid 4-2 Liiga win over KalPa, with each Cat centering their respective team’s first line.
After Luostarinen lit the lamp for the fifth time this season 14:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1, Lundell drew the primary assist on Sebastian Dyk’s marker 11:10 later that temporarily restored HIFK’s three-goal cushion.
Lundell logged 18:26 TOI and finished the game with four shots on goal and a +1 rating.
Luostarinen logged 18:39 TOI and finished the game with the one shot he put in the net and an even rating.
Henrik Bogstrom did not suit up for HIFK in this one.
2018 seventh-rounder Santtu Kinnunen picked up his fourth assist of the season in Tappara’s 5-4 loss to Ilves. Kinnunen logged 14:44 TOI and finished the game with a +2 rating.
2020 fifth-rounder Kasper Puutio made his fifth Liiga appearance of the season in Karpat’s 3-2 win over Sport. The 18-year-old defenseman logged 14:20 TOI and finished the game with a -1 rating.
Aleksi Heponiemi set up a goal in MODO Hockey’s 6-2 loss to Sodertalje SK in a Friday match from Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan. Heponiemi didn’t have a shot on goal, won 2 of 7 faceoffs and finished the game with an even rating while centering MODO’s top line.
2019 second-round pick Vladislav Kolyachonok logged 14:02 of ice time and was credited with one hit in Dinamo Minsk’s 2-1 win over Amur in action from the KHL.
Defenseman Alec Rauhauser played his second Tipos Extraliga game and didn’t figure in the scoring as his club DVTK Polar Bears trounced HK Dukla Trencin by a 6-2 count.
In NCAA action, Owen Lindmark won 7 of 13 faceoffs in Wisconsin’s 2-0 win over Notre Dame. Lindmark didn’t register a shot on goal, took a holding minor an finished the game with an even rating.
