Cats holding ROAR Corps auditions this month

The Florida Panthers will host ROAR Corps auditions for the 2021-22 season on Saturday, August 14 at the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs.

The ROAR Corps, the official energy team of the Panthers, is a co-ed promotional team that can be found skating at breaks and intermissions at home games at BB&T Center, in the community and pumping up fans around South Florida.

Ideal candidates for the audition include participants who are at least 18 years of age with a background in cheerleading, dancing or theater. ROAR Corps hopefuls should be prepared to make community appearances, attend watch parties and spread Panthers pride throughout South Florida.

Roles for the team are available for individuals who have prior skating experience, as well as roles available for those who do not.

NHL signings

The expansion Seattle Kraken dipped into the free agent ocean for the fourth time, signing veteran defenseman Connor Carrick to a one-year, two-way contract. Seattle also inked forward Alex True, who was taken from the San Jose Sharks in the expansion draft, to a one-year, two-way deal. (KOMO News)

Speaking of the Sharks, they avoided arbitration with goaltender Adin Hill by signing him to a two-year contract that carries an average annual value of $2.175 million. San Jose acquired the 25-year-old from the Arizona Coyotes on July 17. (Fear The Fin)

The Ottawa Senators agreed to terms with defenseman Victor Mete on a one-year contract. worth $1.2 million, avoiding arbitration. Mete was claimed off waivers by the Senators from Montreal on April 12 and combined to register five points, eight PIMs and a plus-eight plus/minus rating over 28 games last season split between the Canadiens and Senators. The St. Louis Blues and forward Zach Sanford avoided arbitration with a new one-year deal worth $2 million. Sanford, 26, scored ten goals and added six assists in 54 games last season to earn a himself a raise. (St. Louis Game Time)

The Winnipeg Jets agreed to terms with RFA defenseman Logan Stanley on a two-year contract with a AAV of $900K. Stanley appeared in 37 games and scored his first NHL goal and added three assists during his rookie season with the Jets. (Arctic Ice Hockey)

The New Jersey Devils signed forward prospects A.J. Greer and Marian Studenic to one-year, two-way deals. Greer was acquired from the New York Islanders in the Travis Zajac and Kyle Palmieri trade in April, and played in one game for New Jersey. Studenic appeared in eight games for the Devils, making his NHL debut in April. The Slovakian scored his first career NHL goal against the New York Rangers. (All About The Jersey)

The Toronto Maple Leafs inked defenseman Joey Duszak to a one-year, two-way contract, keeping him the organizational fold. Duszak put up 12 points in 25 games for the Toronto Marlies of the AHL in 2020-21. (Pension Plan Puppets)

Rem Pitlick signed a one-year, two-way deal to remain with the Nashville Predators. The 24-year-old center appeared in 10 games with the Predators and 8 games with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves last season. (Nashville Predators)

The Carolina Hurricanes inked unrestricted free agent defenseman Josh Jacobs to a one-year, two-way contract. Jacobs, 25, spent the last five seasons toiling in the AHL, while also appearing in three NHL games with New Jersey. (Carolina Hurricanes)
