Revolution Fans Learn Their Side’s Fate for the 2023 MLS Season

January 2, 2023 by Last Word On Soccer

2022 is nearly over and it has been a year to forget for the New England Revolution. Attentions can now turn to the new year and the new season, the schedule having just dropped. Looking out for those grudge matches, the most exciting of them all, is always a highlight. Here is what lies in wait for fans of the Revolution.

What the Revs can Expect for the 2023 MLS Season

This year is set to be bigger and better than ever before, or on the surface anyway. The new Apple TV era of Major League Soccer is now being ushered in, a ten-year deal worth many, many millions. Some fans, particularly those worldwide, stand to gain a lot whereas the same can’t be said as much for those in the US.

Turning back towards the schedule announcement though and the 2023 MLS season begins for the Revolution in late February. On Saturday the 25th at 7:30 pm ET, Bruce Arena’s men will visit Bank of America Stadium, the home of Charlotte FC. This will be closely followed by a home opener with the Houston Dynamo coming to town.

Sunday April 2nd is a standout match as the Revs clash with NYCFC. The pair have had some tasty games in years gone by, most notably when the former went crashing out of the 2021 post-season at the first hurdle, despite having set a new regular season points record. The duo will then cross paths once again in early June, of which the time is TBD and who knows where the New Yorkers will be playing their home games by then.

Another fixture of note worth looking out for is that between New England and CF Montreal. The club underwent a rebrand 12 months ago and have now had an equally turbulent off-season this time around.

Key players including Djordje Mihailovic, Alistair Johnston, Victor Wanyama and Ismael Kone have moved on to pastures new. On top of that, they will be under new management with Wilfried Nancy being snapped up by the Columbus Crew. In his place comes former D.C. United head coach Hernan Losada. April 9 at Gillette and August 27 at Stade Saputo are the games in question.

Finally, to the team to beat from last year, the Supporters Shield and MLS Cup winners from the season gone by. LAFC were unstoppable and where it all went down, Banc of California Stadium, will host the Revolution on March 13, the third game of the season.

This is always one of the most exciting times of the year, when the new schedule drops, and the same goes for this 2023 MLS season. There are a number of eye-watering fixtures for Revolution fans for the coming year.
